A CHOICE IS MADE EVERY MOMENT

“So the single most vital step on your journey toward enlightenment is this: learn to disidentify from your mind. Every time you create a gap in the stream of mind, the light of your consciousness grows stronger. One day you may catch yourself smiling at the voice in your head, as you would smile at the antics of a child. This means that you no longer take the content of your mind all that seriously, as your sense of self does not depend on it.”  Eckhardt Tolle

The willingness to be with “What It Is,” is a decision made in every single moment we live our life. The ability to Be in every single moment we are gifted, is our unlimited potential showing up, again and again. The question is, do we See It?

In the hard science of physics there is purported to be a field that permeates the entire universe. This field is the Higgs Field. In a particle accelerator, this field is excited and under optimal conditions, can yield the God particle, aka Higgs Boson. Higgs Field is theorized to be everywhere but it is hard to detect. It cannot be turned off.

The CERN Large Collider is the world’s largest, most advanced and powerful collider built. There was an epic 10 year build. This is where this elusive God particle was found. And of course it was found by the top scientists in this particular field.

Given the above technology and the level of collective intelligence put together, it is astonishingly similar to the validation that the millennial writings of sages, monks, and serious seekers of the Path had posited. The saints and sages did not have the physical instruments nor did they need the physical instruments of science, to explore and detail the inner space of every human being. It was not a physical/phenomenological thing to be divined. It is Divine. And it has a consistency that overlaps the mystery of the physical planes.

Consciousness itself prompts us. It is our missing part that is not missing. It speaks to the unsettled mess as to whom we think we are. Just as the physical phenomena cannot be accessed without aids, the larger field of who we are always, cannot be facilitated without the ’seeing’ of Awareness.

Awareness of the very quantifiable foreground and the Awareness of the very unquantifiable backdrop must be clearly seen, to even have a real choice of what to choose. When we are up to our necks in the parade and glitz of our very temporary lives, we limit the amount of attention/desire/willingness to pursue the real McCoy. When we are so ridden with our little selves, there is little left to see past our noses.

If we are so fictitious in our ego structure, what is it that compels us to scratch that itch? Consciousness itself is always there prompting us, sometimes through the disasters of life and sometimes from the peaks of our achievements. Deliberately choosing consciousness accelerates its arrival.

The choice to to Be or not to Be is always our first choice despite our solid history of choosing less skillfully. Can we see the “pushing energy” of who we think we are, always barreling through life and getting what we think we should, doing what we think we should, and behaving according to our images of who we think we are and the subsequent protection and one-upmanship we give these graven images?

Starting each moment with the accelerator of Awareness of the sublime in contrast with our over-devotion to the temporary, jump-starts us into the field of cosmic consciousness.

Just the other day, I filled an empty frame I had purchased at Divine Consign (about a year ago). It sat on the granite brick wall circumnavigating my office. It’s emptiness and spaciousness waited without complaint. It was full. It’s openness implored all possibility.

It was a small frame suitable for a small picture. And the phenomena arrived in the form of a commemorative stamp of Sathya Sai Baba, pressed through the Indian Post Office and enclosed in a letter to our house. Aha! Yes, yes yes. What to do with the stamp and what to do with the frame? Is the Universe not always One?

Empty and full at the same time and nothing is really there. The Tao that can be named is not the Tao.
It is all so subtle and simple. Try and the world is beyond the trying. The choice to Be, is made in the ineffable space of not being quantifiable. Can we See to Be? The Moment gives us the choice to remain in the Moment every moment. We choose to leave or stay in this Moment based on seeing the choices and knowing the outcomes of our choice, every moment.

The prompts, so subtle, are always beckoning us. Gently letting go of this “pushing energy” long enough allows us to realize that the choice is huge. The egoic trance is passé. It can be turned off at any time. The unifying field of Now has always existed and is the most powerful force in this plane and every other, despite our inability to ’see’ it. Decide in the Moment. Look to ‘not’ know before you know. See the frame unfilled as the stamp of emptiness fills it with nothingness.

When we cook the turkey of ego, this becomes our Thanksgiving.
